Any home printer works. Standard paper is fine — you don't need photo paper or a colour laser. Most parents print the night before the party.
Cut out the clue cards (or fold them), place each one at its hiding spot using the included location guide, put the treasure at the final location.
That's your job done. The kids run the rest themselves. Parents who buy this for the first time always report the same thing: "I literally just watched."
If the hunt doesn't work at your party for any reason — wrong difficulty, missing files, anything — email us within 30 days for a full refund. No questions, no hoops.
Every hunt is tested at multiple real birthday parties before going on sale. We track which clues caused stalling, which hiding spots didn't exist in every home, and which vocabulary tripped up early readers. The version number on each product tells you exactly how many rounds of testing it's been through.
The age-5 pirate hunt uses an average of 11 words per clue. The age-8 version uses atmospheric metaphorical language with a multi-step inference. These aren't the same product with a different label — they're genuinely different calibrations for genuinely different cognitive stages.
Fridge, sofa, TV area, shoe rack, bathroom. We tested every hiding spot across 14+ different homes before publishing. No "but we don't have that." No parent having to improvise a replacement spot mid-party while 8 children are waiting.
Ages 4–9. Each hunt is calibrated for a specific age — not just labelled with an age range. The age-5 versions use 11 words per clue on average; the age-8 versions use atmospheric metaphorical language with a genuine deduction step. The difference between versions is real, not cosmetic.

Five minutes. Print the clue cards, cut them out (optional — folded works fine), place each clue at its hiding spot using the included location guide, put the treasure at the final spot. The location guide is in every PDF.
It depends on the age version. Ages 5–6 are designed for one adult read-through per clue. Ages 7–8 are designed for fully independent child reading. The reading level is specified on every product page.
Yes — reorder the clues and the route changes completely. The rainy day versions are specifically designed for repeated use. Many families use the same hunt 4–5 times before moving to the next theme.
